Pros:
- Ideal for an Apartment
- Great for those cranked Marshall tubes at low volumes that you have always heard on classic recordings
- Effects Loop gives you an option of using Modulation effects to your liking
- Onboard Reverb is a huge plus if you don't have enough real estate on your pedalboard
- Cleans are really nice and usable for the most part
- Power Attenuation works wonderfully for late night practice sessions, jamming and rehearsals
- Comes with a Speaker Cable which is supposed to be used with any Speaker Cabinet & a Footswitch
- Auxiliary Input for playing backing tracks which is lacking on DSL15 W version
- Excellent for players from a Home recording perspective
Cons:
- Clean Channel doesn't have a Gain knob, so that could be a deal breaker for few folks.
- Reverb effect could be unsatisfactory for players looking for a specific Reverb sound
All in all, I am very pleased with the functionality and tone of it. If you are using this in India, please ensure you already have a high quality Step down transformer. Else, you run the risk of blowing up the fuses which could turn out to be extremely frustrating. Keep rocking and rolling \m/

The amp is correctly criticized for being super-bright, but the youtube-famous fail to realize there's a knob marked "treble" that you can dial all the way down. These are vintage-style interactive EQs, and dialing the treble all the way down actually increases the bass. Seems I'm the very first to realize this given the ridiculous reviews. Also the "Tone shift" button is NOT a metal midrange scoop, it's also a treble reduction. The "Classic Gain" clean channel is so incredibly bright it needs BOTH the treble all the way down and the Tone Shift on to sound good...and that way it does indeed sound great. On the Ultra Gain overdrive channel, you can adjust to taste, but I like to start in the same place, and the EQs are shared so it works. I add a touch of bass and the thing really does sound rich and Marshall roaring. And don't forget there *is* a tone knob on your guitar too!
Since I didn't have an EL34 power section handy, I decided to return this and upgrade to the DSL20HR. I'm using a simple speaker attenuator to keep levels comfortable, but still enjoy the headroom and power tube crunch. To save cost and weight I would've kept this though, it's a perfectly good amp, if you give it more than the 15 minutes a typical youtuber does to prepare a review. I feel it's much better than the more solid state Blackstar circuit unless you're into darker metal.
Like most reviewers noted, it’s loud! I use the lower power and can get the Crunch I want. The clean channel is awesome as well Fortunately my music room is above my garage so loud Is not an issue but it’s not for bedroom player
I was about to purchase a SS amp but glad I didn’t. I missed a good deal on Reverb so I waited for Amazon to offer deal on a bundle. However, I was able to buy separately and save $200

Great clean channel...find myself using it more and more than expected and it takes pedals for a joke!
Gain channel is pure Marshall saturation although i did change the V1 tube from a 12ax7 to a vintage Mullard 12au7a...makes it a more useable gain channel and plus added sweet Mullard tone too boot.
If your on the fence on one of these...just do it! $599 pl tx is a bit steep....when on sale is the way to go.
It ships neatly packaged, with as speaker cab patch cord, and footswitch. The stomp box is actually of the metal, solid kind. You hear that, Peavey?
I find the reverb really usable; the level pot is really progressive, as it should. I read complaints about the emulated output. I cannot judge its performance for recording purposes. However, I can tell you that it's hard to beat for silent practice: the sound of that 4x12 I have in my head is now actually in between my ears. Flat tuned headphones are preferable, otherwise the bottom end will be too much. Unless that's what you like. In which case: who am I to judge?
Now, for the "I'm not in love with ..." part:
The cleans are a tad...thin. Sure, the clean channel is probably not at the top of your requirements list if you buy this line of amps. However, you know that sort of buttery clean we know Marshalls for? Well, not here. The clean sounds actually closer to Fendery, without the sparkles. Now, you can tweak that with the 3 band EQ (Yep, this is aimed at you, BlackStar), but that brings my second "Huh":
There is a sort of imbalance between the clean and dirt tone. If I really want to dial my clean sound in, I often find myself rolling off those adjustments a tad when the time comes to grind. However, this is not a deal breaker for me: I don't spend a whole lot of time on the Jazz spectrum of things when I play this amp, and I have another tool for that if need be.
My last "Oh, Crap" point: it's loud as Fork! I know, this dude is complaining he got too much for his money. While this is usually perceived as a good thing (Oh, Wow, your amp sounds sooo Big...), I bought this to rock at bedroom levels. Well, I run it through a 2x10 cab, and there is no freaking way I can crank it in the house. On the full 1W (it sounds ridiculous as I write it) that thing actually puts my Peavey Classic20 to shame when on the 5W setting. No inside voice! Either that, or the volume pots are not tapered properly. I'll have to check on that. The saving grace, at least for me, is that is does retain its playing dynamics on low power, 0.1W mode. Something the Classic 20 lacks on its 1W setting. Hadn't it been for that measly but still loud enough Tenth-of-a-Watt setting, I would have had to send it back.
All in all, I still give it a 5 Star. The low power good for quiet practice and the 1W enough to jam with a bass player (serious) make up for the weird but still usable clean channel. Oh, and it sounds like a DSL. And that little head looks so Cute...until it wants to bite yours off.
I never knew 1 watt could sound so good and so loud.
Excellent sturdy lil foot pedal with a nice long cord as well as power and cabinet cables.
Currently set up on a sealed Marshall 1x10 cab with a 16ohm Celestion Ten 30 and sounds perfect.
